Barriers to Entry to a Business Website

by Kieran on August 28, 2009

barrierA barrier to entry is something that stops you doing something in business.  This also applies to someone thinking about about getting a website designed.  They think cost and their technical knowledge will be an obstacle in the way of them communicating with me the site designer and communicating what they need.

This should not be the case.  The majority of people do not spend the 60-70 hours per week that I spend in front of a PC working on technology, designing and learning about my field of expertise.  Every day I learn soemthing new about website design.

The same applys to your business.  If your business is a pharmacy for instance I do not the first thing about pharmacy and I rely on the pharmacist to advise me in non technical terms how a a certain medicine or product will help me after my purchase.

The exact same logic and process applies to a website.  I work with the customer to the level of technical knowledge so that they understand what they are getting for their money and the technical aspects of the design as much as they want or even need to understand.
