It is possible for someone to create a website for you for under 100 Euro. If you have shared hosting and register a domain name, the fixed costs are usually around the 50 Euro mark and the rest is profit. Yup clean fabulous profit. So if someone offers this to you I imagine that they will be very happy with the 100 Euro (or less) that you give them and never annoy you again and will offer excellent customer care and speedy updates to your site for years to come.
Of course this is a load of rubbish. You won’t be happy with the product that is supplied to you in the first place and when you try and contact the person who did this for you it will be difficult to get a consistent level of customer service from them. If you want a half decent site that promotes you, your business, and your products then you have to pay someone who will spend time with you and take your ideas and feedback on board. They also have to be expert enough to give you feedback that your idea is not sensible and suggest viable alternatives.
So Buyer Beware and put those peanuts away – the monkeys love them.

Hi Barry
Thanks for your comments – appreciate it. However you have answered the question yourself. I applaud your business acumen for creating a website business and making some money from it. However the point I am making is that if you have a mortgage, family and expenses (like me) then you need to pay yourself a working wage then you need to be realistic about your pricing and service offering. I am in the IT business for over 25 years and have two kids in school. Now that does not mean that they customers pay for them but I charge a realistic hourly rate for my sites. The charge can be from 500 – 3000 EUro depending on the complexity and hours involved. I understand that you can charge much less but when you finish college would you cahrge the same and will you continue to support these customers for free? I still support (to differing degrees) sites I designed over 8 years ago.
I have no doubt that you can do an excellent site – but your time is money so price yourself accordingly. I have over 100+ sites out there and provide a service to all of them to differing degrees, but they all pay for it (not a huge amount but enough to appreciate that I they are a paying customer).
Thanks again for the comment.
Cheers Kieran, I understand what you are saying.
Regards,
Barry
