internet consultancy
Consultant can often be a dirty word in business and has often unfortunately meant people who charge a lot of money for pretty average advice. I agree. Over the years many people have been charged a lot of money for advice that has not worked. I meet them every day. They have a pretty good site but no traffic and no real idea why they paid out money for an attractive site that is worthless to them. OECD statistics show that Ireland alone has near one million broadband subscribers. These are all potential customers. OK not all of them but your customer base is more and more online. They are not using the telephone book, they are not reading newspapers, and they are online and searching for products, solutions and information. If you are not providing this service then your competitor is. Customers today expect you to have an online presence. Having an effective Internet marketing strategy is critical.
Here is a simple analogy. If you were launching a new product line you would put a lot of work into it. You would work with your customers and supply chain. Spend time making sure that everything was lined up to launch your new business. You would place adverts in local and national papers depending on big a launch it would be. You would invite all your suppliers to come along to the opening. Order the wine and snacks, get some VIP to make a speech. You know what I mean.
The same logic has to apply to an effective web site. Throwing up a few pages with your contact details, an about page and some product information is all very well and may look well but it is not the approach that will give you benefits. You need to have a content strategy, a keyword strategy and a web based business plan. You need to get some good advice on what pages you want to rank for and what message you want to give when people land on the pages. Lets look at the different types of groups.
First Time Site - New Site Development
You are a small office or even a home based business (SOHO). You want to develop a website as it seems like the thing that everyone is doing. A standard site with the typical 5 pages is a start and only a start. What is the return on investment in this 5 pages doing for you once complete? Basically nothing. No matter how well the pages are optimised they will not help you get better placement. You may see some stray traffic and in the first weeks you may even see some high traffic but that may just be friends and family checking it out. You need to put a substantial amount of time, energy and yes money into the site to make it be a part of your business Read More
Updgrade The Failed Site
There are thousands of websites out there in Ireland and beyond (plenty in Cork too) that with a renewed approach could improve the companies revenue stream. I could write a list of them here. Sadly some of them even know that but don’t have the time to update them. Its like they don’t have the time to make more moneyr. Read More
Summary
The heading is incorrect as this is not a summary but just a beginning and only sufficient to provoke thoughts in areas that you may not have thought about before. I have written a very short blog post this week on one very specific item alone that might help you understand how even the little details can make a difference
