5 Items that Everyone Should Have on Their Site

This is just my opinion but I tell everyone who has or wants a website to do this to their site. You may disagree but if I build you a website this is what you ALWAYS get.  When I see other websites I tell them to make sure that they get the same changes to their site.

  1. Google Analytics – Google Analytics is easy to set up and it is easy to use and read.  It gives you great traffic reports on your site and you can drill down to a pretty fine detail easily.  I know most hosting services provide stats packages but you may not have access or the time to look at them  Analytics also provides e-mail reports if you just want to pick up o a  daily/weekly/monthly report.
  2. <TITLE>:  To me its like a fork scraping on the plate. Make sure your <title> tag is a a keyword that you want searched.  Not My New Website or Marys Creations. Having the right <title> tag is basic on page SEO.  Oh and of course please have a different title for each page with relevant keywords.
  3. Contact Details on Front Page: So many sites do not have e-mail ro phone numbers at a high visibility level.  Make sure that your contact details are not just on a contact page.  Put them in header and in footer.
  4. Complex Dropdowns – I am not a fan of drop downs.  You may like them, your customer may like them.  Knock yourself out.  I just don’t like them.  Put in a search box instead and invite people to search the site.
  5. Repeating Flash: I like a bit of Flash or Javascript.  But only one run please or max two.  no more please.
