What you have to do initially is aim low make a simple maintainable design and build on that principle. So here are 5 tips that I think will give you the best website design.
- Simple and Fast. Get a site up fast. Don’t worry about colours, fonts snappy graphics. The website designer will help you later with this detail. One page simple graphic, contact details, some simple text. Add contact page, about page and leave it cook for a while.
- Create a blog on your site. Start writing posts to it. Get good keyword penetration. WordPress blogs can be set up real quick and there are some nice SEO tools to help you along the way. Post regularly (2-3 times per week at a minimum)
- Too much text kills. Keywords are important but short snappy text. This is my opinion mind but it the text strays below eye level you are losing people and the mouse pointer strays towards the back button.
- Contact: Have as much access to your contact details on each page as possible (I regulalry rant on about this and you would be surpirsed how many sites don’t have it)
- Ask people to review it: Friends, family, forums ask others to give you some feedback.
