Contact Numbers

Like us all I have pet hates and one of my pet hates is when I go to a website that is obviously Irish based, not targeted at an international market and they have +353 in front of their number.

+353 (0) 123 4567

Don’t be so picky you cry!

Well look at it this way.  People may either not know what the +353 is or they may not strip the 0 from the prefix.  I am a big advocate of getting people to information quickly.  If someone has to process the above digits  it is just  a specific moment that may delay the decision.

The less technically astute may look at the plus and wonder where to find this and  what is its function.  You may giggle at this if you are IT literate but try and explain this to a 70 year old who just started using the internet has never travelled beyond his local town and just wants to call his local chemist and googled the details.

Many people just use the Internet as a Golden Pages – in and out.  Make sure that your number on your website has the correct details.

Don’t mix the two up I would recommend that you do the following.

Local: 123 4567

In Ireland: (012) 1234567

International +353 123 4567

Agree, disagree? Call me on +353 (0) 86 812 7999
