Should I Blog On My Website?

The short answer here is yes and no.

When people first see their CMS, such as WordPress, they get excited and say, “Wow, I can now start writing content, posts, and pages. It will boost my SEO, people will start visiting my site, I will get work, and I can create information.”

The reality is that a blog or page is simply a block of content to Google. Google does not particularly care what form it takes, but you should not create content without thinking about its purpose. This purpose should be based on the search keywords you want it to target. They should not be keywords you simply think will be effective. They should be keywords based on research using appropriate tools. There are free and paid tools that can guide you, and paid tools can also show what your competition is doing.

So before you start typing and publishing, stop and think about SEO and keywords.

There is nothing wrong with publishing press releases and other updates to showcase your activities. However, in many cases I see each week, clients have websites with a large number of pages, and only 20 to 30 per cent of them ever receive clicks because there was no SEO strategy in place.
