Wix website design for Irish businesses.

We’re a small studio in Cork. We’ve been putting Irish businesses online since 2006, and we build, rebuild and rescue Wix sites for clients all over the country. If you’re on Wix and it isn’t earning its keep, this page is for you.

01 / The platform

What Wix is actually good at

Wix gets a hard time from web people, and a lot of that is snobbery. For a service business with a handful of pages, a clear offer and no complicated back end, it’s a sensible place to be. Hosting, security patches and backups are handled for you. The editor is honest about what it does. Nothing breaks at three in the morning because a plugin updated itself.

Where it falls down is design discipline. Because you can put anything anywhere, most people do. Type sizes drift, sections stack up without rhythm, and every page ends up shouting. Search engines see the same thing visitors do: a page with no clear subject.

A Wix site that has been designed on a grid, written for a real reader and structured for search will outperform a badly built custom site every day of the week.

The platform isn't the ceiling. The way it's used is.

02 / Scope

What we do on a Wix project

Every job starts with the same short call. We look at what’s there, what it’s meant to be doing, and whether Wix is still the right home for it. Sometimes the honest answer is that you’d be better off elsewhere, and we’ll tell you that before you’ve paid us anything.

Assuming Wix stays, the work usually covers four things. Design, meaning a proper layout system, a type scale, a colour palette that came from your brand rather than a template’s default. Structure, so there’s one page per thing you sell, in the language your customers use, instead of one long home page trying to cover everything. Copy, written for people first, with the search terms sitting naturally inside sentences. Speed and technical setup, with images sized correctly, headings in order, page titles and descriptions written by hand, Google Search Console and Analytics connected and actually read.

We build in your Wix account, not ours. You keep the login, the domain and the billing. If you ever want to move on from us, everything goes with you. We think that’s how it should work.

03 / Redesign

Redesigning an existing Wix site

Most of the Wix work that comes to us is a redesign rather than a fresh build. The business has grown, the site hasn’t, and the owner has quietly stopped sending people to it. That’s the tell. If you’d rather talk someone through your work over the phone than send them a link, the site is costing you money.

A redesign doesn’t mean starting from zero. Your content, your photography and your existing rankings are assets. We keep the URLs that are working, redirect the ones that aren’t, and rebuild the pages around them so nothing you’ve earned in Google gets thrown away in the process. Sites lose traffic in a redesign when nobody plans for it. We plan for it.

Typical redesigns run three to five weeks from the scoping call to launch, depending on how much of the copy we’re writing and how quickly photography comes back.

04 / Search

Wix SEO, honestly

You’ll read that Wix can’t rank. That hasn’t been true for years. What is true is that Wix gives you less room to fix a poor foundation, so the foundation has to be right the first time.

In practice that means a page for each service rather than one page listing all of them, headings that describe what’s underneath them, internal links between related pages, a Google Business Profile that matches your site details exactly, and enough written detail on a page for Google to understand what you do and who you do it for. Local businesses in Cork, Dublin and Galway win on specificity far more often than they win on volume.

If search is the main reason you’re rebuilding, say so early. It changes how we structure the site, and it’s worth reading our SEO work before we speak.

05 / Ecommerce

Selling on Wix

Wix’s shop is capable enough for a small catalogue: a few dozen products, straightforward shipping, standard payments. If that’s you, there’s no need to move.

Once you’re into hundreds of lines, variants, stock syncing or anything unusual about tax and delivery, you’ll feel the walls. That’s the point where we’d normally suggest Shopify or a custom store instead. Better to hear it now than eighteen months in.

06 / Pricing

Pricing

A small Wix site of five or six pages, with your own branding and the copy tidied rather than rewritten, starts around €700. A full redesign with new copy, a proper structure and the search work done alongside it usually lands between €1,500 and €3,000. A shop sits above that again.

You’ll get a written scope and a fixed quote against it before any deposit changes hands. If the budget and the work don’t line up, we’ll say so on the first call rather than dress it up. Nothing gets added to an invoice that wasn’t agreed in writing first.

07 / Process

How the work runs

A short call to see whether we’re a fit. A second, longer call to scope it properly and agree a price. Then design, shared as a link you open in your browser, so you’re seeing the real thing rather than a picture of it. Email and phone in between, a video call when something’s quicker said than typed.

We’re in Cork and most of our clients aren’t. Nobody needs to come to the office. What matters is that you can reach the person doing the work, and we answer our own phones.

08 / FAQs

Common questions

Can a Wix site rank on Google?

Yes. Wix handles the technical basics well enough: clean URLs, sitemaps, mobile rendering, reasonable speed. Rankings come from structure, content and links, and all three are within your control on Wix.

Only if you’ve a reason. Membership areas, complex booking, a large shop, or a team publishing regularly are all good reasons. Being told Wix is amateurish is not one. Moving platforms costs money and carries risk, and we won’t recommend it unless you’ll get something back for it.

Always. The Wix account, the domain and the subscription stay in your name. We work inside your account and hand it back with a walkthrough so you can edit copy and add pages yourself.

Three to five weeks for a typical redesign. A small new site can be quicker. The usual delay is waiting on copy and photographs, so the sooner those are gathered, the sooner it launches.

Most of our clients are outside Cork. Dublin, Galway, Limerick, Kildare, Donegal, and a fair few outside Ireland. The work runs the same way wherever you are.
